Finding Family
In the late 1970s, Steve Jobs reunited with his high-school sweetheart, Chrisann Brennan, and conceived a child with her. Their daughter was named Lisa. Afterwards, the two broke up and Steve could no longer see his daughter. He named one of his computer projects after her to show her he cared, though.
Clara Jobs passed away in 1986. After her death, Steve asked for permission to find his biological parents. Paul encouraged his search.
Jobs studied his birth certificate and located the doctor who had delivered him. The doctor apologized to Steve, saying that he had lost all his records in a fire. This was not the truth, as Steve later found out. After he had called, the doctor sent him a letter to be delivered after the doctor himself had died. That doctor died soon after, and Steve received the letter. There was not much, but the letter did have the name of his biological parents.

Steve contacted his mother, Joanne Scheible and went to visit her in her Los Angeles home. There, he learned that he had a sister, Mona Simpson (who took the last name of Joanne's second husband, now also divorced). Mona was at work in New York City with hopes of becoming an author. Steve's biological father, Abdulfattah "John" Jandali left Joanne and Mona shortly after Mona's birth. Joanne then married George Simpson, but also divorced.
After meeting his mother, Steve went to New York in search of his sister. He discovered how similar they were; they both loved long walks, enjoyed the arts, fussed over the smallest details, were dedicated to their work, and had intense personalities.

In October, 1989, Steve was to give a lecture at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business, then go to a meeting afterwards. While waiting for his talk time at Stanford, he had a conversation with a tall, blonde woman who did not realize that he was the speaker, Steve Jobs. They clicked instantly and after the lecture, Steve asked her, Laurene Powell, to dinner that weekend. While heading to his car for the meeting, he thought, 'Why wait until the Saturday? Why not ask her to dinner now?' He found Laurene again and asked if she'd like to have an organic, vegetarian dinner with him that night. She was delighted and agreed.
They got married on March 18, 1991, surrounded by family and friends. Steve's Zen teacher, Kobun Chino Otogawa, used gongs and incense to perform the marriage ceremony. The couple bourhg t a small house in Palo Alto, CA. Their first child was named Reed Paul, born in 1991. In 1994, Erin was born, followed by Eve in 1998.
